Canada General FAQs

What can I do for little white spots that “freckle” my skin?

Persistent sun damage may eventually cause some of the pigment-producing cells in your skin to stop producing melanin, leaving white confetti-like spots technically known as guttate hypomelanosis. Always take precautions to protect your skin from UVA and UVB damage. Be diligent with the use of broad spectrum sunscreens, cover up and seek shade whenever possible.

What products should I avoid if I have extremely sensitive skin?

Avoid exfoliating or desquamating products, including our ENHANCEMENTS Micro-Dermabrasion Paste and REDEFINE Night Renewing Serum, REVERSE Deep Exfoliating Wash, and AMP MD Micro-Exfoliating Roller. Visit the Solution Tool for a customized skincare routine based on your needs, based on the expertise of Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields.

The Rodan + Fields Solution Tool is available exclusively through our Rodan + Fields Independent Consultants’ Personal Websites. To get your customized skincare recommendation, contact the Consultant who introduced you to Rodan + Fields.

Are Rodan + Fields products natural or organic?

Our primary concern is the safety and efficacy of our products and natural ingredients are not always the safest or most effective alternatives. Rodan + Fields products are not classified as either natural or organic. While many government and nongovernmental agencies have issued guidelines, there is no single uniform definition of the term “natural” as applied to cosmetic products. Dr. Rodan and Dr. Fields have created a regimen-based solution to skincare concerns by combining the best-in-class over-the-counter (OTC) and skincare ingredients to produce easy-to-use, aesthetically elegant formulations that produce real, demonstrable results.

How do I test products to determine if my skin is sensitive to them?

We recommend you test products using the following instructions for three days, three times a day:

  1. Apply a small amount of the product on your jawline or neck. If you’re testing a cleanser, apply it for 30 seconds, and then rinse it off.
  2. Apply each product on a separate area. When you test again, reapply the products in the same area as originally applied.
  3. Watch for any signs of redness, dryness, irritation or swelling.

If you determine you are sensitive to a product, discontinue use. You may want to consider consulting your physician for further testing to determine whether your skin may be sensitive to certain ingredient(s) so that you may avoid using products containing that ingredient in the future.

Are Rodan + Fields sunscreens approved by the Skin Cancer Foundation?

All Rodan + Fields sunscreens have been awarded the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation. This designation is only granted to sun protection products that meet stringent criteria and provide scientific data to demonstrate that the product sufficiently and safely aids in the prevention of sun-induced damage to the skin.

What is the shelf life of Rodan + Fields products?

Every batch of products Rodan + Fields sells goes through extensive quality and safety testing before it is released for sale. The shelf life of our products varies based on the specific formulation and type of product. The FDA requires that over-the-counter (OTC) products have an expiry date on inner (primary) and outer (secondary) packaging. Cosmetic (non-OTC) products that do not list a specific expiration date have a shelf life that is substantiated based on FDA shelf life testing guidelines. Unless specified on the packaging, the shelf life of cosmetic products is a minimum of two years.

Are your products made in the USA?

The majority of our products are manufactured in the United States, and all products are compliant with appropriate government and industry guidelines and regulations. We have an internal team that visits our manufacturers to ensure that all of our products are made to Dr. Rodan and Dr. Fields’ high standards. In the few cases when having products made in the United States is not feasible, we use thoroughly vetted and appropriately registered offshore manufacturers. These products are:

  • REDEFINE AMP MD™ Micro-Exfoliating Roller (Korea)
  • REDEFINE Night Renewing Serum (Italy)
  • REDEFINE Lip Renewing Serum (Italy)

All other Rodan + Fields products are manufactured in the United States.

Can Rodan + Fields products be used by all ethnicities?

Rodan + Fields products may be used on skin of any ethnicity for the appropriate common skin concern such as sensitive or irritated skin, visible signs of skin aging, dull and sun damaged skin or acne-prone skin.
